And just like that, My Website is alive again
My first website was hard coded; that meant I had to learn HTML, CSS, and a bunch of other letters over time.
This was back in the heady days of the internet, when owning a website with your domain that was the same as your name on it, made you cool. Okay, maybe not cool, but it meant a lot to me to be able to own “johnabbott.net”. (Someone had nabbed johnabbott.com just a short while before me, which vexes me to this day!)
Thank you to Laura Kivisto for the heavy lifting / design. If you like her work, please contact her! She’s easy to get along with and truly listens to what you need. Take a look at her work at www.laurakivstocreative.com .
My previous website was designed for speed on dial up connections, which, hopefully, you are not currently on. This one should work on most devices, and the image won’t be tiny.
Speaking of the image? That’s Katie. I thought I’d go back in time and grab one of my favorite photography sessions to represent me for my first blog post here.
Why was it one of my favorite sessions? Katie and I first met when she needed headshots. We were halfway done, and she was sitting on a stool behind me, as I moved a few of the lights. We were at a pause in our conversation - between topics - when Katie suddenly asks:
”Can we be friends?”
I’ve had a lot of compliments during a headshot session, but how do you beat that?
And yeah, we became fast friends.
